The following questions and answers related to the COVID-19 statewide school closure will be updated as new information becomes available. We are working closely with the Wayne County Health Department, the Ohio Department of Health, and the Ohio Department of Education to ensure we are communicating the latest developments. Our top priority is the health of all Triway students, families, and staff during this time.

What can families do to stay healthy?

How long will Triway Schools be closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic?

Governor DeWine announced on April 20th that Ohio’s K-12 school buildings will be closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Will the school year be extended into the summer?

At this time, we do not anticipate extending the 2019-2020 school year. Currently, the last student day is Friday, May 29th.

Will food assistance be available during the school closure?

Yes, food will continue to be delivered throughout the duration of the school closure. To be added to the food distribution delivery schedule, please fill out the link below. If currently receiving food, it is not necessary to fill out the form.

How does the statewide school closure impact district events?

All district events are canceled until schools reopen. This includes extracurricular and athletic events.

How will graduation be impacted?

Ohio’s K-12 schools were granted the authority to issue diplomas to any student who has been determined to be on track to graduate. We will continue to communicate with our senior students and their parents. If you have specific questions about whether your student is on track to graduate, please reach out to Ms. Mitchell, Triway High School Senior Class Counselor - kmitchell@triway.us, or Mr. Wharton, Triway High School Principal - swharton@triway.us.

How does the statewide school closure impact College Credit Plus (CCP) classes?

Current College Credit Plus classes have resumed online. Please have your student direct all questions to the instructor.

How do I access scholarship information?

Please continue to check the guidance page on the high school website, http://www.triway.k12.oh.us/hs/hs-guidance. Students will be notified via their Triway email and the Remind app of new scholarship opportunities. Be sure to pay attention to deadlines and where scholarships are to be sent. If you have questions, please contact Ms. Mitchell at kmitchell@triway.us.

The recently enacted House Bill 197 removed state testing requirements for Ohio students for the Spring of 2020.

Can my 3rd grade student still be retained based on the Third Grade Reading Guarantee?

No school district shall retain a student in the third grade following the 2019-2020 school year based solely on the student’s academic performance in reading.

How will learning continue during the statewide school closure?

Instruction will continue through a remote learning platform. The staff have created alternative learning materials for all students at all grade levels. Please visit http://www.triway.k12.oh.us/covid-19 to access digital versions of these materials.
